SUMMARY:Theresa Hak Kyung Cha: Multiple Offerings
DESCRIPTION:Artists Space presents “Multiple Offerings”\, the first retrospective in twenty-five years dedicated to the groundbreaking work of the artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha. She produced an expansive range of works comprising performances for film and video\, installation\, photography\, artist’s books (including her genre-defying book Dictée from 1982)\, and works on paper\, which will fill Artists Space’s entire first floor. In her lifetime\, Cha contributed to experimental art scenes in New York City\, San Francisco\, Paris\, and beyond. Her work has had a quietly profound influence on subsequent generations of artists.

SUMMARY:Play - The Cherry Orchard
DESCRIPTION:Considered one of the great plays of the modern era\, Anton Chekhov’s final play about a family on the edge of ruin is radically reimagined by acclaimed director and dramatist Simon Stone\, who returns to the Armory following his blistering Obie-Award winning take on Federico García Lorca’s Yerma (2018). His refreshing adaptation resets the action from Russia to a rapidly transforming modern-day Seoul\, South Korea\, where the original noble siblings are now corporate heirs struggling to adapt to a world that has moved on without them\, suffocated by a rising middle class and wealthy self-made entrepreneurs. Caught between the past and the present\, hope and despair\, tradition and innovation\, the chaebol family is forced to grapple with the inevitable forces of change.

SUMMARY:HOME: Kinetic Roots (집: 움직이는 뿌리)
DESCRIPTION:KINETIC ROOTS by Jinyoung Park and collaborators \nHome is not a fixed place\, but a space that continues to be created through the time and memories we have lived through\, and through the relationships we form with the people we meet along the way. \nBodies and sounds originating from different places and times follow the sensations of movement and memory\, departure and staying. \nBody and object\, music and poetry look at the same journey through different languages. \nThrough beings who move with memories of the past\, form relationships in unfamiliar spaces\, stay for a while\, and then leave again\, the work asks questions about the places where we stay and the relationships we create.
